Fulfilment

Fulfilment of finished goods has been a significant part of the service provided by Hobbs for nearly 20 years. The capacity and capability of the fulfilment operation has been developing and improved in leaps and bounds over recent years to match the ever increasing demands both in terms of complexity and speed of turnaround required by the changing markets that we serve.

Many subscriber based products are mailed on a weekly, monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly basis. These will include such items as loose leaf products, journals, magazines, newsletters etc, and include insertions such as CDs, marketing materials etc. In addition there are a growing number of products that are being mailed on an ad-hoc basis; these will include annual reports, books, prospectuses, membership materials, marketing campaigns and special event brochures and invitations etc.

In addition to the subscriber and mass distribution products that we handle, we also operate a substantial print on demand and despatch on demand service for a number of key clients. We have a warehouse that has capacity for over 2500 pallets on site, with a forward picking and storage area that holds working stock in racking that is easily accessible to the packing staff. Service level agreements are in place to support a wide variety of customer requirements.

We have a range of equipment installed to support our fulfilment services; these include our STS Challenger II high speed poly-wrapping line, two Shanklin single copy shrink wrapping lines, a Cold Seal 9000 carton flowline for high speed enclosing of products in corregated card, Two Pitney Bowes inserting lines, and AMS poly-bagging line.

Nicola Chambers heads up a team of 20 dedicated permanent staff in this department supported by additional resources from the bindery and elsewhere in the business as and when necessary to meet deadlines. A key part of our strategy is to seek ways of delivering savings in time and cost to our clients by helping them access the most effective packing and distribution options.

One of the key benefits of manufacturing and mailing on the same site with us is that we can begin mailing while still completing the binding of printed goods. The co-ordination of the two processes is our responsibility not our customers’. Products can be mailed and distributed on the same day they would otherwise be travelling to a mailing house.
